The 67th Annual Meeting of Japan Radiological Society will be held on April 4-6, 2008 in Yokohama, in conjunction as usual with the academic meetings of JRC members and with the International Technical Exhibition of Medical Imaging. The development of diagnostic imaging and radiotherapy equipment, the appropriate application and safety management of such equipment, and radiotherapy in clinical practice are three parts of one whole, and having a common juncture for announcements and discussion is important. I believe that this kind of alliance has made a tremendous contribution to radiation medicine in Japan.
Meanwhile, amid the spectacular developments made in such areas as information processing and high-tech imaging equipment and its application, it is undeniable that our common ultimate objective of a viewpoint for a functioning medicine in clinical practice is apt to being played down. In a bid to renew the recognition of our shared and natural ultimate objective - that is, returning the progress made in radiological technology into functioning "radiation medicine" - in conjunction with the Japanese Society of Radiological Technology, we have set this year's theme as the "improvement of medical practice in radiology: from nano to tera."  Specifically, we plan to put together a program with a mind to radiation medicine directly linked with effective and safe medical treatment. We look forward to welcoming a large number of participants.
