West meets East

    Dear colleagues,

It is our great pleasure to announce that the 7th International Conference on Cryptococcus and Cryptococcosis is going to be held in Nagasaki, Japan from the 11th to the 14th of September, 2008.
This triennial meeting has contributed to the development of the studies of Cryptococcus and Cryptococcosis, and has provided both clinical and scientific researchers with deeper and wider knowledge on biomedicines.
Since it is the first time that International Conference on Cryptococcus and Cryptococcosis is being held in Far East Asia, it would be a great opportunity for Asian researchers to exchange and discuss the latest knowledge and information about Cryptococcus. I hope this meeting will promote good relations between the EAST and WEST.
In order to make this conference more productive and prosperous, for both experienced and young researchers in this field, we wish to have as many abstracts as possible to be submitted for their poster presentations. There is also a competition for travel grants, which aim at supporting young researchers to have opportunities to meet, exchange, and share ideas and experiences with other researchers from all over the world.
Nagasaki was the only city opened for western countries such as Portuguese, Dutch during the Japanese government's closed-door policy period, in the 18th century. It is like WEST meeting EAST only in Nagasaki during that period. Since people, culture and sciences including modern medicine were exchanged and mixed, Nagasaki was the most advanced city in Japan during the 18th century. We believe that Nagasaki is the best city to host this significant conference, and you will be able to enjoy not only the fruits of the Conference, but also the uniqueness of the culture and history in Nagasaki.
We are looking forward to meeting you in Nagasaki in 2008.
