Banks & Currency
The currency unit in Japan is the Yen. Most banks are open Monday to Friday from 9:00am to 3.00pm. ATM Machines usually operate from 6am to 10pm, but international credit cards aren't accepted in all of them. Money exchange is available at exchange office at the airport, big city hotels, and main banks.

Electrical Voltage
The voltage in Japan is 110 Volt and the outlet used is the picture below. Japanese electrical plugs have two, non-polarized pins, as shown above. They fit into North American outlets.

Letter of Invitation
The Conference Secretariat will be pleased to provide you with an official letter of invitation through registration system. Please note that such letters cannot grant any financial support.
Liability and Insurance
The organizers have no responsibility whatsoever for injury or damage involving persons and property during the Conference. Participants are advised to carry their own personal insurance during their stay in Japan.
Name Badges
All participants and accompanying persons must wear the Conference identification badge in a visible place. Entrance to meeting hall, poster and exhibition areas will not be permitted to any person without badge.
Official Language
The official Language of the Conference will be English. Simultaneous translation will not be provided.
Tax
Japan applies a tax to the purchase of both goods and services called the Consumption Tax. The rate of tax that applies to taxable products and services is 5%. Tax is already included in the advertised prices.
Time Zone
Kobe is in Japan Standard time zone nine hours ahead of GMT. There will be no daylight saving time in 2012.
Tipping
For taxi and restaurants the service charge is included in the price. You may add a tip at your own discretion to indicate appreciation of exceptionally good service.
Passport and Visa
All foreign visitors entering Japan must possess valid passports. Visa is not required from citizens of most foreign countries. Participants should check with travel agents or diplomatic missions in their own countries, whether or not visa is required.
